I LOVE this photo I can't believe I took it today. Candles, dried lavender and dried roses, sage bundle, twine, crystals and feathers. Nikon D750 50mm lens. I think this is the best photo I have ever taken and that makes me happy!!!

Dried roses dining room window. Nikon D750 50mm lens. Playing with backlight. I sometimes think I like the dried roses better than the live.

Some random shots of leaves. I am retaking Kim Klassen's Multiples course. Always something to learn with my Nikon camera and my photography. I tend to get into a rut and just take photos of the same old stuff. Nice to shake it up a bit.

So I am experimenting with new places in the house to take photos - when I get more serious about it during the winter months. This is in my family room in front of the patio doors.

Partially dried hydrangea. Nikon D750 50mm lens. Still playing with light and airy. These photos are way far out of my comfort zone but I am learning a lot about LR. I also found a new photo taking spot in my house and I think it is going to work out great.

Dried flowers. Nikon D750 50mm lens. So I am continuing working light and airy. Looking for new places in the house to take photos. Thought I would try in my family room by the patio door. Took a few test pics and they are all great. This spot would not be good for backlight but for this type of still life a great area. Lots more room for me to move around than the dining room.

Dried hydrangea dining room window. Nikon D750 50mm lens. I am playing with light and airy. I tend to like and take photos that are dark and moody. I have set up a challenge for myself to really explore light and airy. I got a note book and am writing down ideas, what props I might need, locations for shooting, camera info, etc. I want to in-depth explore light and airy and learn a few things along the way. I see this as being a long term project.
Today a shot a few test pics in the dining room window. It is a bright sunny day but I shot this about 3 PM. I shot backlight by the window. I am excited about this new project.

White Echinacea, old books and twine. Nikon D750 50mm lens.
Loving the echinacea, especially the white such a great flower to photograph. I am in a interesting place in my photography right now. I am not sure of my direction and am taking a new course about branding or your signature look. I know I don't have one yet I don't know if I need/want one. I do know how I want my photos to look and also pretty much what I want to photo for now. I do understand the value of planning but I don't do too much of that - I just grab a few props and some flowers and shoot. Is this a good way to work - I don't know probably not for a professional. Right now I am shooting for me and for fun - this is not to say I am not serious about my photography but I think for the most part it works for me. I am also learning to get the shoot - not take 15-20 pic of the same thing and then keep all the pictures. I am taking way fewer pics and only keeping the best shots.
I am still fairly new to this - 2 years since I got my Nikon so I am learning as I go. A little uninspired lately but there sure are some beautiful summer flowers just waiting to be a model.

White Echinacea and old silverware. Nikon D750 50mm lens. This is a new plant I put in this spring. It has lots of flowers so far and I am very happy with it. Also known as cone flower or thistle it is a stunning plant and a perennial - I hope it makes it through it's first winter.

Peonies, roses and cherries. A few more of my peony photos. They were so beautiful I just wish they would last a bit longer. The cherries have been so good this year - great models for photos and great to eat after, a win-win. These pics were shot with my Nikon D750 and my 50mm lens. I love that 50mm lens. It is so versatile and never disappoints. I shot these pics in my dining room window with pretty strong sunlight coming thru the window. I usually like to shoot on a cloudy day but you have to use what you get. Actually I love these photos they are filled with beautiful light.
